The pregnancy is confirmed with a ‘pregnancy test’. This can be done either on urine of blood. The test detects the presence of a hormone that rises in pregnancy (Human Chorionic gonadotropin – HCG) in the body. This typically takes 7-12 days after successful implantation of the egg.
The urine pregnancy test kit can be purchased “over the counter”. It will detect pregnancy a few days after you have missed your usual period. It has to be done preferably on the first morning urine.
